Short Link:
At approximately 6:20pm on Saturday, 30 July 2022, Ali Fawzi Ramadan Ahmed, 25, arrived at Al-Aqsa Hospital in Deir al-Balah city with a bullet wound in his abdomen. Medical sources described his wound as serious.
According to Al Mezan’s investigation, on Wednesday evening, 27 July 2022, unknown armed men kidnapped Ali and his brother Abdelrahman, 22, while they were in their neighborhood in al-Nusairat refugee camp, Middle Area District, and took them to an unknown destination. The Ahmed family was then informed that Ali was injured and admitted to al-Aqsa Hospital. The kidnappers released Abdelrahman at 10am on Saturday, 30 July 2022. The Palestinian police informed Al Mezan that an investigation into the incident has been opened.
Al Mezan is gravely concerned about these acts of violence and the use of firearms. We reiterate our call for relevant authorities to take serious measures to urgently limit the proliferation of small arms and light weapons. Authorities must uphold the rule of law, ensure zero tolerance for unwarranted use of firearms outside law enforcement operations, and hold those responsible for breaking the law accountable through a sound legal process.
