Short Link:
On Sunday, 23 November 2008, Al Mezan Center for Human Rights' lawyer visited two Members of the Palestinian Legislative Council (PLC), Ahmad Sa'dat and Marwan al-Narghouthi, who are held in Hadarim Jail.
The lawyer checked on them and inspected their detention conditions.
Both elected PLC Members sent a thank-you message to Al Mezan Center and the PLC for their concern.
They also sent a national message calling all the parties to stick to the national dialogue to overcome the current dilemma that strikes the Palestinian cause and society.
They called for activating previous agreements that ensure ending the internal political disagreements and re-uniting the national front to confront the Israeli aggression and achieve the Palestinians' aspirations of liberation and independence.
Al Mezan lawyer had also visited the Speaker of the PLC, Dr.
Aziz Dweik on Wednesday, 5 November 2008, after he was moved to Ramleh Jail after his medical condition deteriorated.
Al Mezan Center once again condemns the arbitrary detention of democratically elected political leaders and representatives of the Palestinian people.
Such a practice by the IOF aims to paralyze the Palestinian political life and undermine the Palestinian National Authority's constitutional institutions, especially the PLC.
The Center holds Israel responsible for the health and wellbeing of the kidnapped PLC Members.
The Center calls the international community to take serious actions towards ensuring the release of the PLC members, political leaders and all Palestinian political prisoners.
It calls the international community to assume its legal and ethical obligations vis-à-vis Israeli's systematic breaches of the international law and standards of human rights and provide international protection to the Palestinian people.
