Short Link:
Al Mezan Center for Human Rights strongly condemns the continued genocidal war being waged by the Israeli occupation forces against the Gaza Strip, the ongoing escalation against civilians, and the direct aerial bombardment of homes, tents, and civilian gatherings. These attacks have resulted in the death of 1,031 Palestinians and the injury of 3,309 others since the signing and implementation of the ceasefire agreement in Sharm El-Sheikh.
The occupation forces are driving humanitarian conditions toward catastrophic levels, particularly in the health sector, by continuing to restrict the entry of medicines and insecticides, systematically destroying infrastructure, and depriving the population of the most basic necessities of life and healthcare. As a result, insects and rodents have spread widely, and diseases and serious public health hazards have proliferated throughout displacement camps and residential areas amid the absence of clean water, sanitation supplies, and essential services.
According to field information, Israeli occupation forces continue their attacks across various parts of the Gaza Strip. Over the past three days, military vehicles advanced into the vicinity of Al-Atatra, northwest of Beit Lahia in northern Gaza. Several airstrikes targeted displacement areas and tents, causing extensive destruction, particularly in Sheikh Ajleen west of Gaza City.
Thirteen-year-old Ahmad Mohsen Al-Raqab was killed, and others were injured when a tent sheltering displaced persons in Ard Al-Basal, Al-Mawasi area of Khan Younis, was struck. In another airstrike in the Rimal neighborhood west of Gaza City, 18-year-old high school student Raghd Hussein Ashour was killed while on her way to sit for her secondary school examinations online. Israeli naval vessels also continue to fire at fishermen's boats off the coast of Khan Younis, while military vehicles continue shooting toward civilian gatherings in eastern Gaza.
The father of Ahmad Mohsen Al-Raqab stated: “My son was 13 years old. He accompanied me to help with farming and harvesting the watermelon crop in Ard Al-Basal behind the Al-Shaer and Zannoun area in Khan Younis. He was playing with a group of children beside the cultivated land when they were suddenly targeted by shelling, which killed him and injured two other children.”
According to the Palestinian Ministry of Health, the death toll has risen to 1,031 and the number of injured to 3,309 since the ceasefire agreement signed in Sharm El-Sheikh entered into force on 11 October 2025, following the arrival of two fatalities and 14 injuries during the past 24 hours.
Tom Fletcher, the United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator, stated: “Gaza remains standing through temporary humanitarian solutions and the resilience of Palestinians, a situation that cannot be sustained. Palestinians in Gaza remain deprived of the essentials: safety, shelter, clean water, healthcare, and education. Despite a reduction in active fighting, civilians continue to be killed and maimed in daily airstrikes, shelling, and gunfire. Space is also being restricted through constantly shifting yellow and orange lines that determine where they may seek shelter.”
Humanitarian conditions in Gaza continue to deteriorate as Israeli occupation forces persist in obstructing the entry of humanitarian assistance. Displaced persons face severe environmental and health challenges in overcrowded camps due to the accumulation of waste nearby, shortages of clean drinking water and water for personal use, and the absence of infrastructure and sewage networks. These conditions have created a fertile environment for the spread of rodents, insects, pests, and diseases, posing a serious threat to the lives of all residents, particularly with the onset of summer and rising temperatures, while essential chemicals needed for pest and rodent control continue to be denied entry.
A resident of Al-Mawasi, Khan Younis, identified as M.M., stated: “For months I have suffered from continuous insect bites that worsen every day. My entire skin has become irritated and swollen, and the infection has spread among my family members. I went to hospitals and clinics without success. I do not respond to topical treatments or injections; they merely provide temporary pain relief. The pain has begun to consume my body, and my legs are covered with holes in the skin. The hot weather worsens my suffering. There are no alternatives and no insecticides available to spray the tents. We expose clothes and blankets to sunlight and clean the tents regularly, but nothing helps. Rats have also spread extensively.”
Meanwhile, the healthcare sector has suffered widespread destruction, rendering it incapable of meeting patients’ needs, particularly as Israel continues to obstruct the entry of medicines and medical equipment. More than 520 endoscopic procedures and other surgeries have been suspended due to the lack of sterilization materials. Shortages of insulin and kidney dialysis supplies have adversely affected approximately 700 patients who require dialysis three times a week in Gaza. Requests to allow the entry of rehabilitation equipment and prosthetic limbs continue to be rejected.
Al Mezan Center for Human Rights strongly condemns the ongoing Israeli crimes, including the targeting of homes, tents, and civilian gatherings, and the deliberate worsening of humanitarian and health conditions as a form of collective punishment and as part of the genocidal policies being carried out. The Center warns that continued international silence and the failure to take urgent action to stop this unprecedented health catastrophe will come at the expense of the lives of tens of thousands of innocent civilians.
Accordingly, the Center calls on the international community to take effective action and exert pressure on the occupying authorities to end the crime of genocide, allow the entry of humanitarian aid, fuel, medical equipment, and pest-control materials, including insecticides and rodent-control supplies, provide personal hygiene and health supplies for displaced persons, ensure access to clean water, and support emergency interventions for solid waste removal and wastewater management.
