On the same day at approximately 4pm, Israeli artillery in eastern Jabalia shelled around 16 missiles on Borat Al Shawa area in north east Beit Hanoun, directly hitting a house owned by Mohammad Abu Odeh and injuring his son Abdul Rahman, 13 and his wife Entisar Abu Odeh, 50, who was traumatized.

The IOF shelling occurs simultaneously with the siege imposed on the Gaza Strip; Karni crossing has been totally closed since January 15th with only brief reprieves in which limited passage was permitted.
It is worth noting that Karni crossing is the commercial and humanitarian lifeline of Gaza, through which its residents obtain food and medicine and export agricultural and other goods.
Al Mezan Center for Human Rights condemns the ongoing Israeli shelling in the north and east of the Gaza Strip; it believes that the targeting of civilians and properties confirms the IOF decision to decrease the security zone for firing missiles to 100 meters from people's houses.
Al Mezan also calls upon the international community to compel the occupying power to abide by international law when dealing with Palestinians in the Occupied Palestinian Territories (OPT) in order to end the occupation.
