According to Al Mezan field investigations, on July 5th at approximately 1.
45am, an Israeli Apache fired a missile at the Ministry of Interior building located in Tel Il Hawa; the IOF had already shelled the office of the Minister of Interior last Friday and the office of the PM last Sunday; the shelling resulted in the collapse of the fourth floor and severe cracks in the building.
On the same day at around 1.
27am, Israeli military jets fired one missile on Dar Al Arqam School located in Al Toffah neighborhood in Gaza City, causing severe damage to the first floor; it was reported that the school had already previously been shelled.
On July 4th, Israeli military jets shelled the students' council at the Islamic University which damaged adjacent buildings inside the university campus.
The IOF have been launching frequent air, land, and navy attacks on the Gaza Strip.
The IOF have announced the opening of Nehal Ozer and Karni Crossings for four days in order to supply Gaza residents with food, medicine and fuel, however, this morning it was closed once again; Karni Crossing was open for just two days and for limited hours.
Thousands of Palestinian travelers, including over 20 patients seeking to return home after receiving medical treatment in Egypt, have been waiting under harsh conditions at Rafah Crossing since June 25th.
Based on Al Mezan field reports, Gaza residents, including most importantly patients, the disabled and the elderly, living in high buildings face difficult conditions due the shortage of electricity and a water pumping system, since water supply to these buildings was stopped.
Following the IOF incursion in the northern Gaza Strip, residents in Al Amal neighborhood in Beit Hanoun were deprived of water supply after the destruction of the only water pump that provides water from the one local well located in northeast Beit Hanoun.
The living conditions in this area are becoming risky and the municipality is working hard to secure water in mobile reservoirs in an attempt to reach the whole area.
Al Mezan Center for Human Rights warns about the continuation of the siege on the Gaza Strip under the shelling and attacks on civilian infrastructure, it confirms that the supply of food, medicine and fuel which the IOF have allowed in are sufficient for not more than one week.
Al Mezan condemns the closure of crossings and attacks on civil facilities, which are punitive crimes committed against civilians and constitute a clear escalation of collective punishment in the OPT.
Al Mezan hereby urges that the international community undertake its legal obligations and immediately intervene to provide protection to Palestinian civilians, most notably Palestinian travelers stuck in Rafah crossing, and lift the siege imposed on the OPT which endangers the wellbeing of thousands Palestinians, including children and patients.
