Short Link:
Al Mezan condemns the flagrant massacres that have been committed by the IOF through ground and air strikes on the Gaza Strip, targeting houses and residential areas.
26 Palestinians have been killed, including 4 children and 4 women and girls, and 85 wounded as a result of the IOF attacks on 26 and 27 July.
The number of victims from the IOF incursions, since 25 June, has reached 153 killed, including 40 children and 18 women and girls, and 460 injured.
Al Mezan maintains that the killing of children inside their houses is evidence of an IOF intention to deliberately kill an increasing number of Palestinians.
On 26 July, the IOF entered the eastern parts of Al Shaja'ia neighborhood and the borders of Jabalia town, under the cover of extensive machine gun and tank fire.
22 Palestinians were killed, 85 injured, tens of houses destroyed and large areas of agricultural lands bulldozed.
Further, the IOF have continued to shell houses and residential buildings, in particular Al Awda and Al Nada towers in Western Beit Hanoun.
According to Al Mezan's field investigations, on 16 July at approximately 6:50pm, the IOF fired several tank missiles towards an area close to Al Shuhada cemetery in Al Gerem residential area in eastern Jabalia town.
One of the missiles landed inside the house of Samir Okal, killing his wife, Asma Okal, 32, and his daughters Maria, 5, and Shahad, a baby less than one year old.
Two other daughters of Okal, Amany, 4, and Somaia, 13, were wounded.
Another missile landed on the house of Fakir Abu Aish, located in Jabalia, but did not explode.
Further, at approximately 10:50pm an IOF fighter jet fired a rocket at a two-storey house owned by Jihad Al Kahlout, in Tel Al Za'tar area of Jabalia town.
The house was totally destroyed and two adjacent houses were badly damaged.
In addition, 6 civilians were reported injured, including 3 women and a child.
On 27 July 27 at approximately 3:15am, an IOF helicopter fired a rocket that hit the house of Talal Abu Safeia, close to Abu Bin Ka'b mosque, in Al Twam area in Jabalia town.
The house was partially destroyed, although no casualties were reported.
Earlier, the IOF shelled a residential area in eastern Jabalia with tank missiles, killing an elderly citizen Kamla Mohammed Al Najjar, 70, and injuring Shadi Jamil Abu Rabbu, 24.
Al Mezan gravely condemns the ongoing IOF violations against Palestinian civilians and their property and emphasizes that the silence of the international community, and non- compliance of the High Contracting Parties to the 4th Geneva Convention with their obligations under international humanitarian law, encourages Israel to increase the scale of its violations, leading to a further deterioration of the situation on the ground.
Al Mezan renews its demands to the international community, most notably the High Contracting Parties to the Fourth Geneva to immediately intervene, halt Israeli war crimes and provide international protection to Palestinian civilians in the OPT.
