The Al Mezan Center for Human Rights strongly condemns the continued commission of grave crimes by the Israeli Occupying Forces (IOF) in the context of the ongoing genocide against the Gaza Strip, and the sharp escalation in attacks targeting Palestinian civilians. Over recent days and weeks, Israeli attacks have intensified, killing and injuring hundreds of civilians and causing widespread destruction of homes, civilian infrastructure, and other protected civilian objects. Al Mezan further condemns the expansion of Israeli ground operations into additional areas east of the Gaza Strip beyond the occupation-imposed "Yellow Line," accompanied by the continued forcible displacement of civilians.

According to Al Mezan's field documentation, on the evening of Wednesday, 29 July 2026, three Palestinians, including two children, were killed and several others injured in two separate attacks. The first strike targeted a residential apartment in Gaza City's Al-Rimal neighborhood, while the second targeted a group of civilians near Junction 5, west of Khan Younis. Later that night, Israeli warplanes completely destroyed a residential building in Al-Shati Refugee Camp, causing extensive damage to neighboring houses. Shortly afterwards, another strike targeted an inhabited apartment in Al-Alami Building, a busy commercial and residential complex near Al-Saha Square in eastern Gaza City, igniting a large fire and causing significant destruction. At dawn on Thursday, an Israeli drone struck another inhabited apartment near Palestine Stadium, injuring numerous civilians, most of them children.

According to the Palestinian Ministry of Health, six Palestinians were killed and 34 others injured during the past 24 hours as a result of Israeli attacks across the Gaza Strip. This brings the total number of Palestinians killed since the ceasefire agreement of 11 October 2025 to 1,214, while the number of those injured has risen to 3,977.

One survivor, identified by the initials (Y.S.), told Al Mezan:

"Every day we survive by chance. This is nearly the fourth time I have escaped death by only seconds, and the second time within a week that the occupation has targeted people passing through the street where I live. It is one of the busiest streets in Al-Rimal. Most of those injured are children and ordinary civilians who were simply passing by. My son suffered minor injuries only because he accompanied me to buy basic necessities from the shop across from our home."

Israeli forces also launched additional airstrikes against homes and tents sheltering displaced civilians in Nuseirat Refugee Camp, Khan Younis, Tel Al-Sultan, and Jabalia. They continued their systematic destruction of places of worship by bombing Al-Noor Mosque in Al-Bureij Refugee Camp and completely destroying Dar Al-Muttaqin Mosque near Al-Yarmouk Stadium in Gaza City. At the same time, Israeli military vehicles repeatedly advanced during the week around Dawla Junction in Al-Zeitoun neighborhood and eastern Al-Tuffah neighborhood under heavy artillery shelling and live fire, in what appears to be an effort to expand the occupation's so-called "Yellow Line."

Another resident, identified by the initials (S.A.), from Al-Zeitoun neighborhood, stated:

"We lived near the Yellow Line imposed by the occupation east of Gaza City. A few nights ago, intense gunfire and shelling erupted without warning. People fled through the streets, and we left our home with nothing, hoping we could return the following morning because our area was supposed to be outside the occupation's control. The next day, my son went back to check on our house and collect some clothes and essential belongings. Before he reached it, Israeli soldiers opened fire on him and seriously wounded him."

Israel continues to deliberately deepen the humanitarian catastrophe in the Gaza Strip by obstructing humanitarian relief and imposing severe restrictions on the entry of medicines, medical equipment, and other life-saving supplies, while systematically destroying civilian infrastructure and depriving the population of the minimum conditions necessary for survival and access to healthcare.

The deterioration of Gaza's public health situation comes as the world marked World Hepatitis Day on 28 July. The widespread destruction of water and sanitation infrastructure, the lack of safe drinking water, hygiene supplies, and essential services, together with severe overcrowding in displacement sites, has created conditions conducive to the spread of hepatitis and other infectious diseases, posing an imminent threat to the lives of civilians.

In her statement marking World Hepatitis Day, the United Nations Deputy High Commissioner for Human Rights, Awa Dabo, stressed that the right to health is not a privilege but a fundamental human right, emphasizing that "barriers preventing people from accessing healthcare services must be removed."

Al Mezan strongly condemns Israel's continued attacks against Palestinian civilians, including the systematic targeting of homes, shelters for displaced persons, civilian gatherings, and vital civilian infrastructure, as well as the ongoing obstruction of humanitarian assistance. The Center warns that the continued failure of the international community to take immediate and effective measures to end these unprecedented crimes will further deepen the humanitarian catastrophe and expose hundreds of thousands of civilians to even greater danger.

Al Mezan reiterates its call on the international community to take immediate and effective action to compel Israel to cease all attacks against civilians and civilian objects; immediately and unconditionally open all crossings; ensure the safe evacuation of patients and the wounded for medical treatment; and guarantee the unrestricted entry of humanitarian assistance, fuel, medicines, medical equipment, and all other essential supplies, in accordance with the obligations imposed under international humanitarian law and international human rights law.
