At 10pm on Sunday, 5 August 2018, Ahmed Al-Aydi, 17-year old resident of Al-Zawada in the Middle Area district, died of wounds he had sustained when Israeli forces shot him with live fire in the head during his participation in the Great March Return demonstration on 30 March 2018. Al-Aydi was then taken to Al-Aqsa Hospital and was diagnosed to be in critical condition. Falling into coma, he continued to receive treatment in an intensive care unit; then, he was referred to Al-Wafa Hospital in Gaza city. When his health deteriorated, he was referred to the Arab Consulting Hospital in Ramallah, where he continued receiving treatment for several weeks. On 31 July 2018, he returned to Gaza with his ongoing coma. At Al-Shifa Hospital, he finally lost his life at 8pm on Sunday as a result of his wounds.
