Short Link:
At 2:30pm on Friday, 18 May 2018, Israeli forces located on the fence between Israel and the Gaza Strip in southeastern Burij refugee camp used live ammunition and tear gas canisters at thousands of Palestinians who joined the Great Return March demonstration in east Burij to mark Land Day and to demand their right of return. 10 demonstrators were injured at varying levels—five by live fire and two by tear gas canisters. Doctors said the casualties ranged in severity from light to moderate. Field-based medical units provided the necessary treatment to tens of other demonstrators who suffered from inhaling tear gas. The shooting continued until 7:30pm on the same day.
