At 5:30pm on Thursday, 1 February 2018, Palestinian police in Rafah detained Ekrema Motawalli, 26, Rami Abu Taima, 29, Oday Al Akhras, 24, and Mohammed Al Shiqaqi, 20. The four are residents of Rafah city, and they were taken to detention on the basis of their activism, calling for employment rights and opportunities. Following intervention by national and religious groups, the four detainees were released within hours.
