At 01:00pm on Friday, 26 January 2018, Israeli occupation forces located on the eastern borders near Nahal Oz border crossing opened fire and launched tear gas canisters at a group of young Palestinians who demonstrated near the borders in Al Shujayya neighborhood, in eastern Gaza city. As a result, two persons were injured, and medical staff in Al Shifa Hospital described their injuries as moderate. The demonstration was held in protest of the latest U.S. decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. Shooting continued until 06:00pm on the same day.
