At approximately 6:00 pm on Thursday, 12 January 2017, Internal Security Apparatus dispersed a popular march in front of the Electricity Distribution Company in Beit Lahiya, northern Gaza district.
According to Al Mezan’s field investigations, at approximately 4:00 pm on the same day, thousands of people protesting were gathered in Jabaliya refugee camp: the demonstrators walked down Jabaliya’s main streets to the Electricity Company where the police dispersed the demonstrators by shooting in the air and beating people with cudgels.
Protestors held banners calling the Palestinian e parties to keep the fundamental services as electricity away from their disputes. Seven people were admitted to the Indonesian Hospital and their injuries were described as minor. The police arrested and issued summons orders to a number of people.
