17-year-old Mohanad Ashraf Ismail Al Qarrah from Khan Younis was said to be a sincere and spirited boy. He liked playing football; he especially liked playing defense. His ambition was to go to Norway to study. “He liked hanging out with older people so that he could pick their brains and get advice. He especially liked his friend Ahmed who was 20,” said his mother. He was said to be obsessed with motorbikes and hoped to be able to buy a car. He liked being in green spaces and told his family to plant flowers and plants around his grave if he was killed.
On 29 July 2014, when Mohanad and his friends were in the street, an Israeli drone attacked a motorcycle that was travelling near them. As a result, Mohanad and his friends Mohammed Abu Hammad, 14; Mohammed Shawq Abu Hamad, 26; and Ahmed Isamil Abu Hamad, 31, were killed.
