Seven-year-old Saqer from Rafah in the south of the Gaza Strip was a smart and sociable child. He loved dancing the traditional Palestinian dance ‘dabkah’ at wedding parties. He liked hunting birds. His ambition was to be a police officer. He liked to ride motorcycles with his father. He had the ability of imitating other people’s voices.
On 3 August 2014, Saqer and his family were in an UNRWA school shelter. Saqer went to a grocery store to buy some candies for his siblings. The school was targeted by an Israeli warplane without warning. Saqer was killed on the spot. “I feel lonely now after the death of my son” his father says.
