Rana from the Tal Al Sultan area in Rafah in the south of the Gaza Strip was an energetic child. She looked after her younger siblings. She liked cooking. Her ambition was to be a chef. She asked her mother to buy her new clothes for the Eid event. “She was very afraid during the war,” says Raed Abu Sulaiman’s wife said, a survival in the attack that killed Rana.
“I slept for a while during the night and suddenly I found myself under the rubble along with my daughter. Some people came to help. They pulled us out. Our two-storey house was destroyed by a missile from an Israeli warplane. Many people were killed in the attack including Rana, who had been sleeping with her mother for safety,” said a survivor. Rana was ten years old when she was killed.
