Name: Jana Rami Mohamed Abu Suliman.
Date of birth: 9 January 2011.
Date of death: 2 August 2014.
Three-year-old Jana and Lama from the Tal Al Sultan area in Rafah in the south of the Gaza Strip were twin sisters. Lama was a brave and energetic child, while Jana was calm and shy. The twins liked to play together with their dolls or with sand. They liked to play with their mother’s makeup. They dreamed of going to kindergarten.
“I slept for a while during the night and suddenly I found myself under the rubble along with my daughter. Some people came to help. They pulled us out. Our two-storey house was destroyed by a missile from an Israeli warplane. Many people were killed in the attack including Jana who was burned and sustained head injuries, and Lama who sustained shrapnel wounds all over her body,” said Raed Abu Sulaiman’s wife, a survivor.
