Name: Jana Bassam Salem Madi
Date of birth: 17 November 2012
Date of death: 1 August 2014
One and a half-year-old Jana from Rafah in the south of the Gaza Strip was a very stubborn child. She had a strong personality. She used to imitate her sister's behavior. “Jana liked to stay at my house and liked to sleep in my arms,” her grandmother said.
On 1 August 2014, the Madi family home was targeted by an Israeli war plane. No prior notice was given. The house was destroyed by the missiles and six people were instantly killed. Jana was one of those killed in the attack. Tens of others were seriously injured. “Nobody expected that our house would be bombarded,” Jana’s grandmother added.
