Twelve-year-old Ibtisam from Al Shaburah area, Block E, in Rafah in the south of the Gaza Strip liked running, playing and watching TV. She liked studying and was very competitive at school. She did not like her classmates to get higher marks than her. Her ambition was to be an Arabic language teacher.
At approximately 3:20 am on 2 August 2014, Bassam Al Nairab’s house was targeted by an Israeli warplane, which led to the killing of nine civilians, including Ibtisam. Many others were injured.
