Fares from the northern Shokah area in Rafah in the south of the Gaza Strip was the youngest child of eleven siblings. He had six sisters and four brothers. “I lost two of my sons in two separate incidents,” his father said.
On 18 July 2014, the Israeli ground invasion commenced within the Gaza Strip. Fares’ house was targeted by Israeli tank shelling. Fares was in his mother’s arms. They were both hit by shrapnel. Fares was immediately killed at the age of four months, and his mother was seriously injured.
