Emad Al Din from Al Jneinah neighborhood in Rafah in the south of the Gaza Strip was a calm child. He had many friends. He loved playing and watching football matches. He was close to his mother before she died. “His ambition was to start his own business in his own shop,” his aunt says.
On 1 August 2014, a large number of people fled their homes seeking safe shelter. Emad was standing outside his house. A motorcycle was targeted in front of him. The Israeli missile’s shrapnel hit Emad’s body, and he was immediately killed. He was 17 years old.
