Thirteen-year-old Ayman from Rafah in the south of the Gaza Strip liked to stay at home to help his mother around the house. He loved his younger siblings. He was a polite and honest boy. He loved taking care of family’s trees and their cats. “He was named Ayman by his grandmother,” his father said.
On 1 August 2014, the Abdel Wahab family decided to evacuate their house due to intense Israeli bombardment. Ayman’s mother took her children to her father’s house [the Al Shaer family’s house] and his father went to his sister’s house. On Saturday night of 2 August 2014, the Al Shaer family’s house was bombarded with missiles by Israeli warplanes. Nine people were killed, including Ayman. Many others were wounded.
