Short Link:
Name: Aya Anwar Khalil Al-Shair.
Date of birth: 24 November 2001
Date of death: 9 August 2014
Aya from Rafah city in the south of the Gaza Strip was a calm, loveable, obedient and humorous child. She loved to sit and read. Her ambition was to be a journalist. ”One day after Aya’s death I went shopping, and out of habit I started to pick out some new clothes for Aya. Then I remembered that she is no longer with me,” her mother says.
On 9 August 2014, Aya was killed by an Israeli missile when her family’s house was targeted by an Israeli warplane, without prior warning. Her family was inside the house. Her father found her body and took it to the hospital. She was only 12 years old.
