Name: Ahmed Khalid Ali Abu Harbah
Date of birth: 12 June 2000
Date of death: 3 August 2014
Fourteen-year-old Ahmed from the Al Shaboorah area in Rafah in the south of the Gaza Strip was a kind and responsible child. He was not excelling at school, so he decided to join the UNRWA technical school. “He was the right arm of his father, so he held much of the burden of his family at a young age. I was waiting for him to be a man to take care of his family,” his father said.
Ahmed’s family believed that the UNRWA schools would be a safe shelter for Ahmed. His parents would send him there. On 3 August 2014, Ahmed and his cousin Yousif went to the school. The school was targeted with missiles by Israeli warplanes, without prior warning. “They were both immediately killed” his father added.
