Date of Death: 23 July 2014
Four-year-old Zainab from Abasan Alkabirah in Khan Younis had a twin named Zeyad. Her sister Walaa often took care of them. “Zainab was in a hurry to go to kindergarten and we planned to enroll her the next academic year. She was more distinct than her brother. When her brother Zeyad saw her grave, he told us, ‘Zainab is in heaven’, and when he saw her picture on the Al Ketab TV channel, he said, ‘no, she is in Asdaa recreational city’,” her mother said.
Zainab’s family was displaced three times during the war. They eventually moved to her grandfather’s house. When the Israeli ground invasion began people started to flee. Zainab and her sister Noor were on the balcony asking the fleeing people where they were going. An Israeli drone fired a missile that directly struck the girls. Zainab was killed on the spot.
