Date of birth: 17 October 1999
Date of death: 29 July 2014
Samaa from Khan Younis was the fifth child among her siblings. Her father had chosen a distinct name for her. She was in ninth grade and used to write revolutionary poems. She had also memorized 27 chapters of the Quran. She planned to join Islamic Shariaa faculty at a local university. She had a sweet voice while reading the Quran. Her relationship with her brothers was very good.
“I treated her as my daughter and I her mother,” her grandmother said.
“Our area was very safe, so our relatives decided to relocate to our house for shelter. On 29st July 2014, while we were having our [Ramadan] ‘Sohur’ meal, an Israeli missile hit our house and everything went upside-down. Rubble and dust covered us. Samaa was immediately killed at the age of fourteen, along with Ibtesam, my daughter in law, and her sons, Rafeef and Mohamed Al Najjar,” her mother said.
