16-year-old Sa’ad Mahmoud Lotfy Al Haj from Khan Younis was a religious boy who spent a lot of his time at the mosque. “He was very articulate and people used to think that he’d be a good public speaker,” said his aunt.
On 10 July 2014, with no warning, Sa’ad’s house was attacked by the Israeli military. Sa’ad and nearly all of his family were killed in the attack. His sister Feda and his brother Yaser were not there at the time of the attack and so they survived. Sa’ad’s father, 60; his mother, 57; his siblings Asmaa, 22; Tareq, 18; Fatma, 12; Najlaa, 29; and Omar, 21 were killed.
