Name: Rahaf Khalil Al Jabour
Date of birth: 10 October 2010
Date of death: 17 July 2014
Rahaf was from Al Manara, Khan Younis in the south of the Gaza Strip. When she was born, she stayed in the nursing department for six months. She started to stand and walk when she was 12 months old. “We had enrolled her in kindergarten for the following year. When she found me depressed, she used to bring me the Quran and asked me to read,” said her mother.
“On the ninth day of the war, when Rahaf was hungry and I was giving her some food, suddenly, we discovered the windows breaking around us, without hearing the sound of an explosion. We started looking for Rahaf and I found her on the ground praying, but bleeding. Her father was too shocked to even drive the car,” said her mother. Rahaf was killed at the age of three.
“Our emotional state is very bad because of Rahaf death. We evacuated our house for the rest of the war, and now, after ninety-four days, I still hear her voice and feel her spirit around me - as well as her brother’s,” her mother added.
