Date of Death: 29 July 2014
16-year-old Osama Fayez Ahmed Breikah from Khan Younis was forced to grow up quickly because of his mother’s poor health and physical disability. She had become partially paralyzed after developing thrombosis. Osama would help her move around the house and take care of the household and shopping. She used to try to tell him not to help so much but he refused, saying that he wanted to help her in the same way that she had taken care of him when he was a child.
On 29 July 2014, Osama was at home in the Al Dali building when an Israeli warplane attacked the building. Thirty-five people were killed, including Osama. Osama’s mother, 59; his brother Ahmed, 32, Ahmed’s wife, Basima, 32, and their daughters Jana 3; and Lama, 1, were also killed in the attack.
“He used to carry his mother because she was very sick and could not walk, telling her ‘you carried me a lot when I was a child.’ With Osama’s death we lost the milk of human kindness,” said his aunt
