Ahmed Waleed Nasrallah Samour was 7 years old and from the Al Zanna area in Khan Younis. He was very close to his mother. He would follow her around wherever she went. He was a shy boy and also a bit stubborn. He really liked playing football. Two days before he was killed he went to visit his aunt in Bani Suheilah, although his mother had told him not to.
On 19 July 2014, he was targeted by an Israeli warplane while he was playing in the yard. Ahmed sustained serious head injuries and was referred to a hospital in Egypt for treatment, but he died on 23 July 2014. “I was really worried about my children during the war. I didn’t expect them to be targeted but I did have this feeling that I was going to lose someone. I can still see Ahmed everywhere I look,” says Ahmed’s mother.
