Date of birth: 1 October 1996
Date of death: 2 August 2014
17-year-old Nabil Hasan Al Najjar from Khan Younis was said to be merciful and kind. He liked to go to his grandmother’s and to help her around the house. “He had some canary birds; a few days before his killing he released them,” his grandmother says.
Nabil’s family fled their home in Khuza’a and went to an UNRWA school that was being used as a shelter. During the Israeli announced truce, Nabil went to check on their home. The house was completely destroyed. He told his mother and asked her to go with him to see their destroyed home. His mother refused. He went alone again to the house, without telling his mother.
On 2 August 2014, an Israeli warplane attacked a car that was travelling near the entrance to Khuza’a. Nabil died immediately.
