Date of birth: 27 January 2005
Date of death: 30 July 2014
Nine-year-old Maiar from Al Shuhada'a Street in Deir Al Balah in the middle of the Gaza Strip was a spoilt child as she was the youngest of her eleven siblings. She liked to play with other children. She loved acting. She used to bring breakfast for ambulance drivers in the mornings.
On 30 July 2014, a motorcycle was targeted with an Israeli missile, just in front of her house. Maiar rushed to the window to see what happened. Another missile was fired and she was hit and killed by shrapnel. Her mother witnessed her killing and remains traumatized. “Her sister Mariyam, 7, is shocked and carries Maiar’s pillow around with her all the time,” her sister Dodaa, 26, said.
