Name: Othman Raed Othman Al Jammal
Date of birth: 25 May 2004
Date of death: 20 July 2014
Ten-year-old Othman from Gaza City was an organized and daring child with a strong personality. He was close to his mother and helped her around the house. His hobbies were dancing Dabkah and playing football. His ambition was to be an Arabic language teacher. He took very good care of his looks. “He was very close to his elder brother; and now his elder brother misses him very much,” said his father.
On 20 July 2014, the Israeli shelling and bombing intensified against Gaza City. Many families - including the Al Jammal family - decided to evacuate their homes for safety. A group of civilians was targeted by an Israeli missile. Many people were killed in the attack, including Othman. His body was recovered only after the end of the war.
