One and a half-year-old Amal from Gaza City was said to be a very distinct child. She was said to be smart and daring. She spent most of her time with her grandmother. She spoke very well. “She was the toy of her family as she was the first grandchild,” said her grandmother.
On 12 July 2014, while the whole family was inside the Al-Batsh family's house, the house was targeted with two missiles from Israeli warplanes. No prior warning was given and the house was completely destroyed. Twenty members of the family were killed on the spot, including Amal. Seven people were seriously injured. All of the victims were buried on a plot of land next to the house.
