Karam and Abdel Kareem from Al Sheja’iah in Gaza City were five-month-old twin brothers. They were born together and died together. Karam used to sleep with his grandmother. Abdel Kareem was suffering from health problems. “Their parents had many daughters so they were very happy when they received twin boys,” said their aunt Sahar (32).
On 21 July 2014, there was an intense and random shelling conducted on their neighborhood by Israeli forces. Their house was targeted by Israeli warplanes without prior warning. The three-storey building was completely destroyed. Eleven members of the Al-Helow family died instantly. The bodies of the family members were unable to be recovered from under the rubble for eight days.
