Date of Death: 8th July 2014
Ahmed Nael Nezar Mahdi from Jabaliya was a calm and relaxed boy. He loved football and was a Barcelona fan. As the eldest son in the family, his mother relied on him a lot to help with the chores, especially when she was sick. One of his favorite meals was ‘Fatet Al Humus, [a traditional Palestinian dish consisting of bread and humus] and on the day he was killed, 8 July 2014, he had asked his mother to make it and he had gone out to buy the ingredients for her with some friends. While they were on their way, they were directly targeted by an Israeli warplane. Ahmed sustained a fatal head injury in the attack. ‘I can’t bear to be in the house without him. I think about him every day. Each day is harder than the last,’ his mother, 41, says. Ahmed was 14-years-old when he was killed.
