Short Link:
At approximately 6:00 pm on Wednesday 27 November 2013, Israeli gunboats opened fire at Palestinian fishing boats which were a nautical mile away off the Gaza port west of Rafah city.
According to Al Mezan’s field investigations, one of the Israeli rubber boats approached a Palestinian boat and ordered two fishermen who were on board to take off their clothes and swim toward the Israeli boat.
Palestinian fishermen refused to swim, so the Israeli soldiers opened fire near the boat.
Then the soldiers kidnapped them and handcuffed and blindfolded them.
30 minutes later, they took them to the Israeli gunboat, made them dressed other clothes, and then they were referred to a rubber boat.
When they arrived at the seaport, they were interrogated and they were forced to sleep all night long handcuffed and blindfolded.
Al Mezan has identified their names as follows:
· Mahmoud Khalil Mahmoud Hassouna, 17; and
· Ahmed Khalil Mahmoud Hassouna, 16.
They are both residents of As-Sowedeyyah village in Al Mawasi area in the southwest of Rafah.
They were released at approximately 12:00 pm on Thursday 28 November 2013.
In their affidavit to Al Mezan, the family of the detainees stated that the Israeli Forces seized their boat and nets.
