Short Link:
At approximately 3:40 pm on Sunday 4 March 2012, a police force halted the convoy of Maher At-Taher, a member of the political office of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) in Rafah.
He was visiting organizations and households of victims affiliated with the PFLP in Rafah.
A police jeep halted the convoy, which consisted of five vehicles, as At-Taher was leaving the house of Ashraf Abu Libda in the As-Salam neighborhood of Rafah.
The police claimed that At-Taher’s entourage had opened fire.
The organizers of the visit denied the accusation, and the matter ended without incident.
When the convoy later arrived at the home of Basel Al Yazouri in Al Jnena neighborhood, they were surprised to find a small police bus and three jeeps from the Department of Public Order waiting for the convey in front of the house.
The police detained five of At-Taher’s entourage at its office in Rafah.
They were released after about ten minutes when an examination of their weapons made it clear that they had not been fired.
