Short Link:
At approximately 11:05 am on Wednesday 5 October 2011, agents of the Internal Security Apparatus broke into the office of the Life and Hope Association, near the Office of the Municipality of Jabaliya, in north Gaza, where a workshop on “the right to citizenship,” organized by the Palestinian Peace Coalition, was being held.
Apparatus agents photographed 30 participants of both sexes, confiscated documents, and forced the participants to disperse.
The Apparatus then summoned two persons to its office in Jabaliya refugee camp.
Al Mezan has identified them as:
· Saleem Abdel Karim Saleem Al Hendi, general coordinator of the Palestinian Peace Association in the Gaza Strip; and
· Akram Atallah, journalist and guest.
At approximately 11:45 am on the same day, the two men arrived at the Apparatus office, where they were detained in two separate rooms.
They were interrogated about the workshop, its objectives, and its organizers.
The Apparatus ordered the coordinator not to pursue any such activities in the future.
At approximately 4:40 pm on the same day, the Apparatus released them
