At approximately 3:50 a.
m.
on Saturday 30 July 2011, unknown persons detonated an explosive device near the door of a minimarket belonging to Rafeq Ali Swelim, 39.
The minimarket is located under the house of Mohammed Ibrahim Swelim east of Al Awda Hospital in Tal Az-Za’tar neighborhood in Jabaliya.
As a result, the minimarket sustained severe damages and four adjacent houses sustained light damages.
The police initiated an investigation into the incident.
According to Al Mezan’s field investigations, unknown persons placed a small explosive device at the door of the minimarket and left the scene.
As a result of the explosion, the iron door, the glass door, the ice cream fridge, and the beverage fridge were damaged.
The perpetrators and the background to the incident have remained unknown.
