At approximately 6:45a.
m.
on Monday 4 July 2011, Israeli naval vessels patrolling the sea opened fire on Palestinian fishing boats north of Al-Waha resort off the coast of Beit Lahyia town in the North Gaza district.
As a result, a fishing boat belonging to Mohammed Abdel Razeq Baker, 41, was damaged by Israeli shrapnel.
The firing scared the fishermen on the boats and they sailed to land immediately.
