At around midnight on Sunday 17 April 2011, two masked armed men on a motorcycle opened fire at Mukhtar Abed Mriesh, 19. Mriesh was walking near his house in the Al Jum'a market in the Al Sheja'iya neighborhood east of Gaza city when he was shot. As a result, he sustained wounds from three live bullets in his legs. Perpetrators and motivations behind this incident have remained unknown.
