Short Link:
The Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) have continued to impose a tight siege on the Gaza Strip as a measure of collective punishment of the Palestinian people.
Under this siege, they are restricting the movement of both individuals and goods in and out of the Gaza Strip.
Since 11 May, 2004, the IOF has completely closed the Karni Crossing, east of Gaza City.
This passage is the only crossing point through which the IOF allow goods to be imported to and exported from the Gaza Strip.
As a result of the closure, no goods have been imported for 9 days and there is a lack of food supplies and children’s milk in the Gaza Strip.
If this closure continues, it will have negative repercussions for the residents of Tal El Sultan neighborhood in Rafah who require immediate humanitarian aid, and also lead to shortages for the entire population of the Gaza Strip.
Al Mezan Center for Human Rights calls upon the International Community, and the Consulates and Representative Missions to the Palestinian National Authority to immediately intervene to avoid an imminent deterioration of the humanitarian situation as a result of this continued closure.
The Center calls for international pressure on Israel to stop the closure and allow food and other goods to enter into the Gaza Strip.
