Dr.
Ayoub Othman, Lecturer and head of Al Azhar University Worker’s Union was shot yesterday in Gaza City’s Sheikh Radwan neighborhood.
Dr.
Othman, 55, told Al Mezan Center for Human Rights that on February 13th, at approximately 9:55pm, he exited Al Radwan supermarket located in Street One of Shiekh Radwan neighborhood, and went to his car parked in front of the supermarket to load his shopping in the rear seats.
He suddenly felt a pain in his left leg, which started to bleed.
Dr.
Othman saw a car leave flee from the scene; he could not recognize the persons inside the car.
He cried out and was taken to Al Shifa hospital in Gaza City.
Al Mezan Center for Human Rights condemns the shooting of Dr.
Othman, and expresses its grave concern about such incidents which target university teachers and citizens.
Al Mezan hereby calls upon the PNA to seriously investigate the incident to reprimand those involved.
Otherwise, it is certain that the state of insecurity will worsen further.
