At 11am on Saturday, 14 April 2018, Israeli forces located on the eastern borders of Malaka area in Al Zaitoun neighborhood in eastern Gaza city opened fire and launched tear-gas grenades at tens of Palestinians demonstrating in the area. The demonstration was help as part of the “Great Return March”, organized by a national committee of factions to demand Palestinians’ right to return to their lands from which they were expelled in 1948 and 1967. Israeli use of live ammunition, rubber-coated steel bullets, and tear-gas grenades resulted in the injury of four demonstrators, including a child and a woman—one by live fire, two by tear-gas grenades, and the fourth by tear gas. Doctors at Al Shifa hospital described the four injuries as light. Israeli shooting continued until 7pm on the same day.
