Al Mezan Condemns Assassination Attempt on Director of Falastin Newspaper

On Thursday, 20/6/2008, at approximately 12:00 pm, there was an assassination attempt on journalist Mostafa As Sawaf, Director of Falastin Newspaper.

A bullet was fired at his office window, located on the first floor of the Kheil Building, in central Gaza City.
The bullet hit the bars on the windows, and fell inside the office.
No causalities or damages were reported.

Last August, on 31/8/2007, As Sawaf received death threats on his mobile phone via SMS.

Al Mezan Center for Human Rights expresses its strong condemnation of this incident that violates freedom of express and the press.
The Center demands the Palestinian government in Gaza to open a serious investigation into the incident
