Police Exchange Fire with Mourners, Injure Three in a March to Cemetery in North Gaza

20pm on Thursday 18 December 2008, armed men from PFLP's Abu Ali Mustafa Brigades fired in the air during a march to Beit Lahia cemetery for the burial of Salah Awkal, who was killed in an IOF air strike.
When members of the police arrived at the scene and attempted to arrest armed men, confrontations started between the mourners and the police under intense fire.
At 4.
30pm the police withdrew from the area after talks between Hamas and PFLP.
Three people were lightly injured in this incident, two of whom from live bullets.
