Short Link:
Today, Sunday 21 March 2010, representatives of civil society organizations (CSOs) met the UN Secretary General, Mr.
Ban Ki-Moon, in Khan Younis city in the Gaza Strip.
Mr.
Issam Younis, the director of Al Mezan Centre for Human Rights, participated in the meeting.
Mr.
Younis asserted that all the CSOs representatives described to Mr.
Ban Ki-Moon the deteriorating situation of the Gaza Strip due to the continuous Israeli aggressions on the Gaza Strip.
They also pointed out the devastating impacts of the continued closure and collective punishment imposed by Israel on civilians in Gaza, which puts the population in jeopardy and affects all aspects of life in the Strip.
They called upon the UN to play an effective role to protect civilians and properties in the Gaza Strip, since the UN, and the international community, have moral and legal responsibilities towards the Palestinian people.
The representatives asserted that the UN should ensure justice and enable the Palestinian people to achieve their legitimate rights.
