At 4:30pm on Friday, 10 August 2018, Israeli forces opened live fire and launched tear-gas canisters at hundreds of demonstrators joining the Great Return March protest in east Burij refugee camp. 26 demonstrators, including four children, were injured—11 of them, including a child, by live fire. Casualties ranged in severity from light to moderate, and field-based medical teams provided the necessary treatment to other demonstrators who suffered from breathing difficulties resulted from Israeli forces’ heavy use of tear gas. The Israeli shooting continued until 8pm on the same day.
