At 2pm on Friday, 22 June 2018, Israeli forces located on the eastern fence between Israel and the Gaza Strip used live ammunition, plastic-coated rubber bullets, and tear-gas canisters against youth, women, and children joining the Great Return March demonstration in east Rafah city. 40 demonstrators were injured, eight of them children, including two by live fire, one by shrapnel, and four by tear gas. 33 of them suffered from breathing difficulties due to inhaled tear gas.
