Short Link:
At 9:30am on Friday, 6 April 2018, Israeli forces based in monitoring sites opened fire and launched a large number of tear gas grenades at hundreds of youths and children who demonstrated to the east of Shuhada cemetery in Jabalia refugee camp near the eastern borders in the district of North Gaza. The protesters joined the “Great Return March” demonstration, which has been called for by a national committee of Palestinian factions to mark Land Day. Majdi Shabat, 38, was killed during Israeli shooting, and 235 other protesters, including 29 children and 10 women, were injured. Doctors at the Indonesia, Al Ouda, and Kamal Adwan hospitals said that casualties ranged from moderate to critical. 145 were wounded by live fire in various parts of their bodies while 90 others were injured by rubber-coated metal bullets and tear-gas grenades. Other protesters affected by inhaling tear gas received the necessary medical treatment in the field. Israeli forces continued shooting at protesters until the evening of the same day.
